Cast3D itself is transparent and not dependent on any type of coordinate system, but the reeding engine is! Both Sandy3D and Papervision3D use left hand side coordinate system. So porting code of Cast3D for those is also left hand.

Most of 3D modeling tools use Right hand side coordinate system. which means any file with 3D data would need conversion from Right to Left system.

How to import 3d model

Using 3ds2XML import utility.

Just be careful what are importing, some models could be too big to handle with Flash. Decent size scene that would animate well is abut 3-5K polygons. I you go for more you might expect visible slowdown in rendering. Beyond 15K polygons, animations id virtually stalls. This limitations related to Flash rendering pipeline and rendering engine. Cast3D animation itself is quite lightweight.

Yes. Cast3D is released under MIT licence wich is bacisally most less restrictive license.
You can use it in commercial applications, make modification to a source code and if you find it useful send it back to us we will add them to release.

Please also check dependency rendering engine license as well. As for now, Sandy3D is using Mozilla license and Parevision3D the same MIT license.
